KIDS’ AND FAMILY FUN ZONE

rootbier garten, games, music & fun

Two women and a young girl participate in a photo booth at a fair, holding inflatable pretzels and beer mugs, making silly faces. A young girl in a blue dress wears inflatable pretzels around her waist, and an adult woman wears an inflatable beer mug around her neck. A man leans in and sticks out his tongue, holding a drink and a white bag. In the background, a child wearing a white jacket and purple boots looks on.

Get ready for all the fun and community connectivity the 2025 Oaktoberfest Head-Royce School Family Strasse has in store for kids of all ages! Our family-friendly event has offered interactive stations, lawn and field games, youth bands and live music on the Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley Family Stage, and of course, root beer floats with Loard’s ice cream - courtesy of Little Caesars Pizza - Dimond. Julie Johnson memorial rootbier garten

Julie Johnson was a devoted member of the Dimond community in Oakland, where she lived for 28 years. Passionate about supporting local artists and businesses, she worked tirelessly to make her neighborhood vibrant and beautiful. As Treasurer of the Dimond Improvement Association for 16 years and organizer of key events like Oaktoberfest, Dimond Lights, and Art in the Street, her contributions to community building and beautification were deeply impactful.  Her efforts earned her recognition from the City of Oakland, and she was a proud Leadership Oakland alumna.

Known for her love of nature and commitment to environmental sustainability, Julie embraced hobbies like gardening, swimming, sewing, belly dancing and dragon boating.

Julie passed away unexpectedly at 66. She was a loving mother and will be fondly remembered by her family, friends, and neighbors.

She looked forward to Oaktoberfest each year and her cheerful presence at the ticket booth will be missed. Raise an Old Stock in Julie’s honor!
